ARTWORK QUESTIONS


Q.What is “CMYK / Black” or “4/1”?

A.
CMYK is a color process that refers to the four inks (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and Key). CMYK process combines these 4 Colors in differing percentages to create a wide range of colors. Black refers to the ink used in different percentages to create a range of values ranging from light grey to black. In plainer terms, this color option allows any color (excluding metallic & neon colors) on the front of your cards and grayscale on the back.

Q.What type of files can PPS® accept?

We accept pretty much every file type like these (.Ai, .PSD, .PDF, .EPS, .TIFF, JPEG) but the easiest files to work with are the original art files, such as Illustrator or Photoshop files. For a more detailed explanation, please read our Artwork Submission Guide.

Q.How do I submit my design?

A.
How you submit your files depends on your design option and the type of artwork it is. The simplest way to submit artwork is to email our art department at info@plasticprintsolutions.com. We accept pretty much every file type but the easiest files to work with are the original art files, such as Illustrator or Photoshop files. For a more detailed explanation, please read our Artwork Submission Guide. Once we have your files we can start the designing and proofing process.

Q.How does Instant Proofing work?

PPS®.com has the technology to proof your artwork instantly online to cut days out of the traditional ordering process. To ensure your artwork checks-out the first time around, be sure to meet these requirements: (please call 612.284.6820 if you have questions about artwork requirements)

  • Make sure your final document/image/art board is created to the product’s Bleed Dimensions
  • Submit your designs in two separate documents, one for the front, and another for the back.
  • Artwork must be in CMYK color mode
  • Resolution must be at least 300 dpi.
  • Artwork must be submitted in .PDF /.TIFF / or .JPG format.

Q.What if I accidentally accepted a proof?

A.
When you accept a proof, your order goes into production instantaneously. If you accidentally accepted a proof, please call 1.877.889.1969 and let us know as soon as possible so that we can make the correction before the wrong artwork gets printed.

Q.Does PPS® Offer Metallic or Transparent cards?

A.
We do offer these products. Please call a sales representative at 1.877.889.1969 for quantities and price quotes.

Q.How many design versions can I have in my order?

A.
An added benefit of choosing Plastic Print Solutions is that we do not charge a setup fee for single version orders. If you want to order multiple versions, we charge $35 per version after the first. The positive side is we will give you the pricing for the total quantity (which means lower “each price”).

Q.How does the PPS® Online Design Tool work?

A.
Plastic Print Solution’s Online Design Tool works like a lot of image editing software on the market today, except the best part is that you don’t have to purchase expensive software to use it. The Online Design Tool allows you to add and edit all these elements: Text, Color, Geometric Shapes, etc… You can even upload images to use in your design. Q.Can PPS® make my card look like a credit card?

A.
We can give your cards the effect of a credit card since the material we use is the same as your average gift card. Also, we can add a magnetic stripe (real or fake) to any card at no extra cost. If you are looking for raised numbering (also known as embossing) please call us at 1.877.889.1969 for pricing.

Q.Should I leave Crop & Bleed marks on artwork for submission?

A.
The short answer is no, especially if you are submitting artwork through the PPS® Instant Proofing tool. Everything you see in your proof will be printed. So remember to remove the guidelines along with data placeholders like barcode, magstripe, etc… Data will be printed later in production.

Q.What if I don’t have any artwork?

A.
Plastic Print Solutions is pioneering a unique solution in the gift card printing industry. We will not charge you a cent to design the products you order from us. Someone from our art department will work directly with you to create a design that’s tailored to your business. We’ll make revisions until the design is perfect. This process usually takes 1-2 revisions.

Q.What if I don’t have a logo?

A.
If a logo is what you need, Plastic Print Solutions can provide one for you. Since we offer artwork assistance at no extra cost, we can include logo creation as part of this value added service.

Q.What is usually printed on the back of the card?

A.
The back of a gift card is usually reserved for any sort of data tracking (magnetic strip, barcode, or sequential number), disclaimer text, and business contact information. If you need disclaimer text, all of our proofs come with an example. You can revise or add to it if you like.

Q.Can I put my logo on a product?

A.
You certainly can! That’s what a printed custom cards are all about. Give us a call and send us your logo and we’ll do the rest. Please call 612.284.6820 with design questions and send your logo in Illustrator, .EPS, .PDF, or JPEG format to info@plasticprintsolutions.com.

Q.What if my proof looks a little funky?

A.
Please give our art department a call at 612.284.6820 and our experts will provide you with a proof that will straighten out any confusion.

Q.What if I can’t fax the proof approval form back?

A.
If you do not have access to a fax machine, Plastic Print Solutions can accept proof approval confirmation by a copy or scanned version of the signed document. In some rare occasions, we can accept written approval through email.

DATA TRACKING


Q.How do I know PPS® Cards will work with my system?

A.
To ensure that all cards work with your system, we always send out data test cards. When you receive them, just scan the cards and let us know if it works or not. It’s that simple.

Q.What if I don’t know my POS System / CC Processor requirements?

A.
When it comes to data requirements, things can get confusing. We can spare you the headache and get you exactly what you need. Just provide contact information to reach your Software representative and we’ll do the rest.

Q.Do I need to have data tracking on my PPS® Cards?

A.
Simply answered, no! Not all cards need a barcode, magnetic stripe, or sequential numbers. The choice depends on you and your intentions with the card.

Q.What If I don't have a POS system?

A.
If you don’t have a POS System, don’t worry. Plastic Print Solutions® strives to make gift cards accessible and provides options for gift card processing. Please call 1.877.889.1969 for more information.

Q.What if I want a fake Magnetic Stripe?

A.
Believe it or not, you aren’t the first to ask. We can print a faux magnetic stripe that looks like the real thing. Just select “Magnetic Stripe” in the order specifications and make a note in the order details to let us know.

Q.How do I create an account?

A.
Creating with Plastic Print Solutions is relatively simple. Just click on the link below, fill out the required fields, then click the submit button at the bottom of the page. Then PRESTO, you’re registered.

Q.What if I accidentally logged out in the middle of an order?

A.
Do not fret. Our website is usually really good at remembering where you left off. Log back into your account and click on shopping cart. From there, select your order to continue with the ordering process.

Q.How do I re-order?

A.
Log into your account, click on the “Order History” link in the left-hand navigation. Choose the order you want to re-order from the list of past orders. Finally click re-order. Be sure all order specifications are correct (i.e. quantity, shipping address, etc…)

Q.How do I pay for my order?

A.
Once you have uploaded artwork and specified your order information, you can pay for your order in one of two ways: The ordering process will lead you to a page that allows you to input your billing / shipping / and credit card information. From there the balance will be deducted directly from your account. The other way to pay is by filling out a Credit Card Authorization form that we will send you. Once we receive the information we will bill your account.

Q.Why do I need to create an account to complete an order?

A.
Creating an account with Plastic Print Solutions is beneficial to both sides of the transaction. Having an account will help us manage the production of your cards and will allow you to track the status of your order all the while. Having makes it easier if you ever need to re-order cards too!

Q.What is the order quantity minimum?

A.
To ensure the best price per quantity, we start our minimum out at 250 for all products. The price lowers as you move up in quantity in increments of 250.

Q.What if I forgot my Username & Login information?

A.
Obtaining your account information won’t be a hassle. Please call or email us to confirm your identity. If everything checks out, we will send the information to the email address specified when the account was created.

Q.How long does it take to get my PPS® Cards?

If a quick turnaround is what you need, we can certainly accommodate! On average, our products ship within 8-12 business days from your artwork approval and even sooner if expedited. Expedited price is dependent on a few variables: shipping location, weight, and the type of product. Q.Can I track the shipment of my PPS® Cards?

A.
To track your order, you must first sign into your account. Find the “Order History” link on the left hand navigation bar and click it. There you will find a list of past orders. If your order has been shipped you will find a link under the “Tracking” Column. Click that number and you will be transferred to the UPS site to view the status of your order shipment.

Q.How much does it cost to ship my order?

Plastic Print Solutions partners with the services of UPS Ground to ship your cards to you for free. Our free shipping is limited to the Continental United States. If you live outside these boundaries, please call 1.877.889.1969 for a shipping cost quote.
